Fist time hunting the North side. Maps that were given not very helpful. first day saw no hogs. Second day my buddy shot a nice little hog weighing 80 lbs hanging weight. Saturday evening saw nothing. Sunday morning fog. Hunted some other areas. Saw a big boar on the hill side. Put a stock on him but never saw him come out of the brush patch on the hill. After 3 hours of waiting walked another ridge. Saw three hogs on the move. Double time it up the hill and posted. No hogs I thought. Saw one and waited. three more appeared at 210 yards away. Threw up my shooting sticks up and let one go. The hog took off. Waited for my buddy. He spotted for me where I hit the hog. Did a little tracking and found my hog. Nice boar. I figured he weighed approximately 220 lbs. The Nosler E tip performed well. The hog went approximately 50 yards before he pilled up. The hog weighed 181 at the scale.
Got a call from tejon ranch saying I had the second biggest hog on the ranch. It paid me $120. I did hear a hog of 262 lbs was taken on Saturday. That is one big hog. I would of liked to of seen it but it was already gone. The North side of the ranch was fun to hunt. Put my skilsl to the test. I like the south side much better, but I would go back to the north side again. Great hunt with good friend. Almost forgot, see that ugly looking rattle snake. Just about steped on him he never rattled. I was 8 inches away until I saw him. I think its a Mojave green. First time out of 8 years on hunting the ranch that I have ever saw a rattle snake. The after noon hunt was a little on edge after coming so close on getting bitten.
