Getting ready to put my camera out tomarrow for the first time!  I planned on just throwing out some dog food for the first roll.  But have some deer scent sticks I plan on trying, they are the kind you can light on fire like a fire works punk stick.  Obvious the best way is to just put the camera out on trail to check for activity naturally with no baits.  Just wondering what other guys have used?

Hi Rob - The deer in my area travel down the trail sniffing it like a dog would, so adding bait or scent would really put events out of balance. However, I do scout for deer tracks before I waste time planting a cam. Deer are very social animals, and there seems to be hubs where their trails focus.

I'm after pictures of predators, not really deer.  So I
putting the camera about 150 yards from where a gray fox den is. I don't plan on getting anything but fox on the first roll.
