In my latest North Dakota Outdoors magazine, there was an article about banding doves. Some details:
  • 26 states participate
  • More than 85,000 birds will be trapped & banded
  • The study is being conducted during the 2003-2005 seasons
  • Report to 1-800-327-BAND (2263) or online at www.pwrc.usgs.gov.bbl
  • Hunters will receive a certificate with the birds banding data
Have any of you shot a banded dove before?

Do you know if Kalifornia participates in the study?

Now that would be too cool..... being that I'll probably never get a banded duck or goose...

Who knows if or when Kali will participate?????

I don't know either but I have caught a DFG banded stream trout before. I clipped the band to my fishing vest. Almost 3lbs.

SD.....
I've got quite a few of those from trout out of the Sierra's.....
I just don't know what I'd do with a band from a Duv..... too small to put on my dog whistle..... don't know if I'd want to mount it.... maybe....

What do ya think??? What would you do with one???

Never seen a banded dove. But we did have two guys with us last year that shot a few ring neck doves. Thats the first time I've ever seen a ring neck dove and I've been shooting (or shooting at) dove since I was 8 years old.
