I am a fan of the Barnes TSX bullets. My 30-06 shoots them very well and I like the way they hold together. My question is, How well do they open up at 300 plus yards ? We have used them out to 250 yards and they worked great. But would like to hear from those that have used them at longer ranges. Thanks

I shot a nice blacktail buck at a ranged 325 yards using a 130 gr. TTSX in a .300 wm handload. The shot was quartering away and the bullet was lost out of the shoulder. The space between the entry and exit was turned to pudding. It was disgusting.

I would have no qualms about shooting a TSX or TTSX at or exceeding 300 yards if the shot was doable.

I'm yet to track an animal shooting TSX out of my 25/06 out to 400 yards. and i also always get the same pudding results.

My dad shoots them and has no trouble putting elk down with his 30-06 at 500 yards.
