With the majority of the roster completed, BASS announced today the field for the 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series derived from Bassmaster Elite Series and Bassmaster Open qualifiers. The star-studded field boasts 17 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles, 14 Bassmaster Classic victories and more than 190 BASS victories.

The field will be complete after the final 10 qualifiers are determined at the Bassmaster Elite Series WildCard Qualifer, set for Nov. 29-Dec. 1 on Florida's Lake Okeechobee. More than 30 anglers will fight for the final 10 spots in the three-day season finale tournament, which will receive extensive coverage on ESPNOutdoors.com.

The entire field will kick off the 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series in less than four months with the March 6-9 "Sunshine Showdown" on Florida's Harris Chain of Lakes. Through the season, the Elite field will compete for nearly $7.5 million in cash, while co-anglers will vie for more than $1.2 million in cash and awards.

"The Elite Series has become the ultimate destination for professional anglers," said Jamie Wilkinson, BASS senior director of events and business development. "We receive tremendous feedback about the brand-building opportunities associated with participation in the Elites."

Once again, the 11 Elite Series events will determine one of the most prestigious awards in bass fishing, the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year, which will award a total prize purse worth $1 million in 2008, including the $250,000 grand prize.

"This is the ultimate destination for anyone who wants to build a career in professional bass fishing," said Skeet Reese, the reigning Bassmaster Angler of the Year.

Like Reese, many 2008 Elite anglers will be familiar faces who competed on the groundbreaking circuit in its second season. Those anglers will be joined by a host of new anglers who qualified through one of two Bassmaster Open trails. The complete list of 2008 Elite anglers organized in alphabetical order can be found below.

"My main goal this year was to qualify for the Elite Series," said Arkansas' Clark Reehm, who qualified via a second-place finish in the Bassmaster Central Open points standings. "It's one of those situations that the superior option to build a career and a brand in the professional fishing industry is the Elite Series and anglers are taking notice."

Jeff Freeman of Max Meadows, Va., who won the BASS Federation Nation Championship this past weekend, also received an invite to the Bassmaster Elite Series but has yet to decide.

Sponsors of the Bassmaster Elite Series include Toyota Tundra, Purolator, Triton Boats, Mercury Marine, Berkley, Advance Auto Parts, Lowrance Electronics, MotorGuide, Evan Williams Bourbon, Ramada Worldwide and Costa Del Mar.
