Last year I posted on here asking for some advice on where in trinity was good to look for bear. Someone said the trailheads at coffee creek. This being one of the very few areas I was familiar with I checked it out. I went in late December, there was already quite a bit of snow on the ground, so I couldnt get back too far. I am courious as to how far back the road goes and how far back was reccomended. I ended up setting up cant right at the bridge that crosses creek. I would say about 2 miles up the road. I cant remember the name of the trail head right there at the bridge, but it was fairly steep. Any way, I hunted for a day, then got dumed on overnight and barely made it out before I got snowed in. On the way out I saw some skid marks going across the road, when I got out and looked at them, they couldnt have been more than 15 min old. Its was snowing very very hard and the tracks hadn't even started to fill in with snow yet. The tracks went across a creek and up a hill. I wish I could have followed them, but I was more worried about getting out of there. This guy was a bruin too. Huge prints. Any way, I am planning on going back for a hunt this year. The main reason I wrote this long rambling post is to ask how far up coffee creek is good. I know the area is infested with bears. But are the better areas to hunt further up the road. Or is where I was at fine. Thanks for the help.
