Looking to spend in this range, but I would like to find a great set that will work for me for a long time. Would spend less but not more than that amount. What are some good ones that you would recommend?
A few years back I bought a pair of 8x30 binoculars at the Texas Trophy Hunters show in Houston. They are made by a company called Optovision USA. I was told by the man who sold them to me that Zeiss makes the lenses they use. I was a little sceptical at first but I figured for $180.00 I could'nt go wrong. I used them for the first time hunting in New Mexico 3 years ago and every year since. My hunting buddy brought his $1100.00 Swarovski's with him. To a man, the rancher, the guide, and my friend, no one could not tell a difference. In fact mine even drew in more light in the early morning and late evening. Also mine were clearer and easier to focus than the Swarovski's, and are smaller and lighter. I have never been happier with a hunting purchase than I am with these glasses. If you are interested you can contact the man I bought mine from and maybe he can tell you where to get them close to you. E-amil me and I will get you his information if you are interested.
You won't hear to much about these, but look thru a pair of Weaver Grand Slam 8x42's along side all of those mentioned above. Extremely clear and easy on the eyes. I have a pair of Leapold Gold rings and I use these more. I don't know why they aren't advertised more, they should be.....hronk
Last Friday at the Raahauges Shooting Sports Fair I attended a seminar on glassing for deer/elk by Arizona Guide Duwane Adams who uses Swarovski Binocs and a doubler but he said 12x50 Pentax Binocs are good quality also.He stressed getting a tripod with a head designed for the binocs you're using from David's Outdoor Edge Sporting Goods located at 327 Alta Vista,San Manuel,AZ 85631, phone 520-385-1952, email:davidsoutdooredge@yahoo.com also he carries used binocs, truesage camo. Duwane Adams said binocs of 10x and up are suitable for glassing .Contact Az Guide Duwane Adams, 204 Avenue B,San Manuel,AZ 85631 ph # 520-385-4995, to purchase his new binoc glassing dvd coming out in a month or so http://www.arizonabiggamehunting.com .
