Taking my kid out for pig next week. Choice of weapons is a 25-06 (or 243) but he liked shooting the 25-06 better. What bullet do you all think is best for pig? Non-condor zone hunt.
Really; any stoutly constructed hunting bullet would be okay. I might not recommend a silvertip, but an Accubond would do fine. A Barnes TSX or TTSX would be the best, as would the Winchester E-Tip. Personally I would go with the Barnes, but you have to let the rifle tell you what it wants.
I have been hunting with a 25-06 for 35 yrs. I have killed a bunch of hogs with a 100 gr. Nosler Partition but my favorite is the 100gr. Barnes XBT. they just don't ever run away from me with the Barnes.
Thanks all. With the ammo squeeze, I have found Fed. Premiums in Nosler Ballistic Tip in 100 grains and Nosler Fusions in 120 grains. I will see which the rifle likes best.
Did Hornady put the 25-06 rounds on it's suspension list? Over 150 bullets have been placed on suspended production, so that they may focus on core calibers/loads. I don't have a link, but a brief search will get you to Hornady's suspended bullets list.
Fusion is a cheap bonded core bullet. If your gun shoots it well, it's just like shooting an Accubond but cheaper. Personally, I love the Nosler Partions...been biased for a looong time. RG
