I currently have the Leica Geovid 10x42. I am going to Wyoming on an Elk hunt this fall and I am wanting a small compact binocular 8x20 or 8x25 for spot and stalk. I will still be taking the Geovid for glassing. How's the glass on the small Leica and swarovski binos? I don't mind spending the extra money for a great compact binocular.

My friend has Pentax DCF 8 x 25's. For so small a glass they are amazing! And besides being waterproof they are even Phase coated!

I think he got them from Optics planet for around $220.00 a couple years ago.

I bought a pair of Leica compacts about 8 years ago. THey started out great, but soon were way out of alignment, so I sent them back. $180 dollars later, they are better, but nowhere like new and I'm now out about $600+. I definetly wouldn't buy Leica compacts again. Oh, another thing, they aren't water proof either, found that out real quick. I hunt Swaro El's all the time now.
