The post about the 25-06 got me thinking. We have all heard the debate of the best deer cartridge beat to death. But what about hogs? I'll stick my neck out first... Plain and simple the 30-06 with a good 165 gr load. Plenty flat shooting for the long shots, yet works in the brush up close, and plenty of juice for any pig you will find. All other calibers seem to have tradeoffs like good but damages too much meat, good but your shot better be absolutely right on and within 200 yds, good but too much recoil, etc. I just can't find a "but" for the good old '06. Its just plain good for hogs. Who's next?
