I just put in for a lake Pilsbury Bull tag. Last year's hunt saw 400 applicants with 81 applicants holding max points. I was tempted to put in for the antlerless, but I really want those racks if I'm going to haul 600 lbs of meat out of the forest. the antlerless hunt had much better odds with only 81 applicants last year of whom only one had max preference points.
I was up at Pilsbury for the first time last year and while shooting guns with a bunch of friends on the airstrip I looked back and saw about 150 head of elk. There was one big bull and a couple of smaller ones, the rest looked to be all cows. Hell of a harem for one guy.
The quota is 2 tags so my hopes aren't real high but that sure would be a great hunt. Not too far from home, and I have a buddy who owns a camp site up there.
