Nic:
Just got back from the mainland and my wife said you called. I'll call you on Monday or
Tuesday. In the meantime:
If you're coming over in February, give me a call about 3 weeks before. I've got a 30/30 Model 94 Trapper for you, complete with new Williams Micrometer sights and some hot handloaded Barnes X-bullet cartridges. I'll never use it and you will. However, in Hawaii, you need to get a Permit to Acquire 14 days in advance. After 14 days, the cops give you the permit but it is just good for 6 days, so you have to time it right. Keep me in the loop so we can get together on this. If you don't get a Permit and then register the firearm and then you get caught with an unregistered firearm, you'll spend the next 10 years playing "Don't drop the soap!" with your cell mate.
There are some Jesse's guys coming over in Feb and I'll take them pig/sheep hunting. I've got one pig area over on the dry side of Mauna Kea that's a joke. I drive back in at the Kilohana check station for 1 1/2 hours [13 miles], set up camp down in a little ravine, and hunt that evening and the next morning. I've seen as many as 100+ pigs in a single hunt and have never seen another human.
A pig is a slam-dunk [almost].
But then again, Laupahoehoe or Piha are so beautiful, maybe we'll go there, too. You're welcome to join me, but you've got to do something to slow yourself down so I can keep up, something like breaking both your legs or at least one kneecap.
Keep in touch. Will call you in next couple of days.
