Nice pig and ram , the pig lower jaw pic is very cool . Your little lever action looks perfect for hunting the thick stuff . The picture makes that barrel look quite short , Winchester? What barrel length and caliber ?
Story on the hunt would be interesting .
Just out of curiosity , how hard is it to remove the tusks from the jaw ?
KZ: I think it was about 10 minutes or so into the hunt. We were hunting in the rain all day and you can see my hat isn't even all the way yet. The pictures were taken about 20 minutes or a half hour later i made the shot too. It was definetly not more than an 1/8 of a mile from doccherry's truck.
Danv: It's a 30-30 Winchester Ranger Model 94. They come with an 18" barrel. The perfect brush gun for here in Hawaii and the lever action is pretty dependable. The story on the hunt is on doccherry's last post. 'Big Island Boar' or something like that. The story of the ram is in the 'Hilo, Hi hunting weekend' thread. I think thats what it was titled. The teeth usually slide out pretty easily after being boiled a while. Use a dremel or a saw if they're too stubborn and cut away the jaw bone. I've used a machete to crack the jaw to ease them out a bit too.
