Just got back from an overnighter to the dry side of Mauna Kea. Plenty of pork in the cooler. Saw [this is no exaggeration] over 100 pigs, 6 mouflon sheep, 200 turkeys, 30 chukars, 1 ringneck, hundreds of quail, a dozen francolin, and not one single human being or one single motor vehicle or not one single human/car track. All on public land.
I'm way too pooped to write anything now. Had to hunt with my ankle cast inside my boot and hiking for 5 hours at 7000 feet has made this tired old 60-year body a disaster area. Will tangle with a couple glasses of wine, a shower, and a nap and then report.
Nic an Ev: The dry side, right before bird season, is unreal. I stood on a rock overlooking the Area A grasslands and the greener Parker Ranch and saw over 30 pigs in various areas. Some really nice boars, too.
Aloha and later. Time to bust a cork and rejuvenate. If that's possible at my antiquated age.
