As of right now I go up the mountain about 5 minutes from my house and archery hunt the pigs that are destroying a gentleman's expensive, exotic landscaping. The pigs are everywhere and they are kicking my arse. They are very stealthy and they outnumber me 100 to 1. My wife and I went to a Cinco De Mayo party yesterday [really a 6th of May party] a bit farther up the mountain at a house on 1 1/3 acres that backs up to some forest/open area that is used for cattle grazing. The owner of the house told me that the pigs are coming on to his propery in the evening and digging up his irrigation pipes to get to the water. They also tear up his grass and plants. A few nights ago, he became so frustrated that he parked his truck in the backyard in such a way so that when the pigs climbed up over the rock wall he could turn on the headlights and create a field of fire. Well, the pigs climbed over and he turned on his headlights and opened fire with his 1911 Colt .45. The neigbbors thought nothing of it because they are trying to get rid of the pigs. Anyway, he missed. He asked me to come up anytime and shoot them. I walked back to the back wall with my wife and about 100 yards away in the grass were 6 pigs, one quite large. Later, I took another guest back to the wall and we saw a 250 pound boar within easy archery range. Later that evening, another couple at the party told us that they had gone to another party Friday night and a huge boar walked into the back yard and began tearing things up. The owner of that property said aloud, " I wish someone would come up and shoot these damn pigs!!! They're ruining my property and ruining my neighbors' properties. The neighbors will pay to have someone shoot them."

Everywhere I go, people are asking me to come to their property and shoot the pigs. Imagine this: A pig can litter two or three times per year, 8-12 piglets per litter, no predators, all the necessary food and cover and water is there for the taking, and very few people actually hunt---well, you get the picture. Pigs everywhere and the population is exploding.

By the way, while we were eating all that great Mexican food [you can't get any good Mexican food on this island and I really miss it], several wild turkeys ambled past and began feeding on the plants. The lady of the house shooed them away with a broom but more came and then more. They finally roosted in the monkeypod tree at the back of the property. Also, a bunch of Kalij pheasants came by and fed alongside the garden and finally in the garden. Three types of dove flitted about. And this is not way out in the boondocks but is really in the suburbs or mini-estates. All this activity is on 1 1/3 acres. The neighbors, on similarly sized properties, have the same thing going on.

I'm overwhelmed.
