big lagoon elk

my buddy got drawn for the big lagoon elk hunt so he had to miss our annual dove hunt. he ended up tagging a 56" wide x 44"tall 9x8 on opening morning. doesn't look to me like a high scoring bull though. heaviest rack i've ever seen in this country i'll try and get a picture to post.

Damn, I put in for that hunt.  But I didn't get drawn. It's just not fair. That should have been my bull......

But seriously, that sounds like a mighty fine bull.  Your friend was very lucky to drawn and harvest such a nice bull.

I did put in for that hunt this year and I have been faithfully putting in my application for an Elk tag here in California since they reopened the Elk hunts.  

California needs a point system for the deer X zones and the other big game drawings.  I have been putting in for an antelope tag for 26 years and have not been drawn yet.

I remember a few years ago the cover of the California hunting regulations brochure featured the picture of a TWELVE YEAR old girl with a huge Tule elk she had harvested on her first ever hunt.

Is that the bull that Dave Cavyell (out of Crescent City) guided for, if so I have seen the pictures that is one great bull.

i hear ya haary,i wish they would at least consider local preference or even ca hunters but thats another argument.a co-worker of mine took a monster out of klamath last year also.blacktail, i don't believe this is the same bull, i heard a kid that works for simpson in orick killed one that'll make the book,maybe thats it. it won't be hard for me to get a pic of this one, once he hears i'm gonna put it on the net he'll really think he's the cock of the walkand hand one over

my buddy got back a couple days ago, he got a 6x7 that scored 261 3/8. he got it in the klamath hunt though. good huntin
