We have been having a few threads on quality vs. price, which one's better etc. lately. I just recieved a Cabela's clearance catalog and it has Zeiss 8x30 or 10x40 on sale for $699.00. That's as good of a price as I've ever seen for these bino's. I used to use the 10x40's and they are outstanding, especially at that price. I don't think you can go wrong, and they will last you a lifetime plus.
Sportsman's guide also has some deals on Stiener's. 8x30 for $199.00 and 12x40's for $279.00. Although the 12x are a little hard to hold still without a tripod. This looks like a good time to invest in some good glass.
