Well I went out and bought a new Nikon D80 camera and just got my lens for it today - its a 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S VR lens and I'm very pleased with it. All theses pics were taken free hand with vibration reduction turned on and zoomed all the way to 200mm. No post editing was done - this is straight from the camera and put on the puter. I can't wait to get it out after the turkeys this spring.
I tried like hell to get this one blue jay - but he didn't want his pic taken today I guess. I know these are not quite as sharp as I wan't them - but there not bad for the first time out with this camera. I got a lot of practicing to do.

Hey Dave glad to see you posting some pics with the new cam and lenses. this is a great series for the first time out with it. Just sit tight and the blue jays will let you shoot them too.

I'm looking for this class of digital camera.
What lens(s) did the camera come with?

How much was the add-on lens? 200mm 2.8 sounds pretty fast.
Nikon lens?

I use a Canon G5 today as my 'beater' camera and it's rugged and has many miles on it.

I'd like to upgrade.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies -

CA Pheasant - the lens I got with the camera is a 18-55 mm lens - the other lens I just got was the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 - it was pretty expensive though - prit near $1900 just for that lens. But so far I'm very pleased with it.

Will be going out in the morning when I get home from work to try and get some more bird pics.

Very well done, birds are always the toughest to get to cooperate in front of the camera.
