I'm gearing up for a hog hunt and somethng occured to me. I wear an orange vest and hat when I deer hunt but I have never worn orange when I hog hunt because when and were I normally hog hunt there aren't really other hunters to worry about. But in two weeks I'm going to Tejon for a management hunt and I was thinking I should wear orange because of all the other hunters. Can hogs see color? Or at least can they see the red spectrum of color that would make orange as obvious to them as it does to us? Everyone says that hogs have terrible eyes but I haven't had that experience at all; they might not see like a mulie but that doesn't mean they can't see well. Anyways, chime in on whether you wear blaze orange or not so I can make a decision for my hunt.
Thanks!

Hogs won't see it. It will make absolutely no difference to them.

It's not a bad call on the PORs, because there are a lot of unknowns on that hunt so you never know who'll be looking at you through a scope. If you already have it, there's no good reason NOT to use it.

Nope, blaze orange will not make a difference. Last year I was at a buddies ranch. He works for a road construction company and has a blaze orange vest he wears at work. Well the vest is also a jacket. We went on a early morning hunt and he forgot his jacket so wore his vest. We were 15 yards downwind from about 6 hogs. They looked in our direction multiple times and not once spooked. So, my best guess would be they cannot see orange.

Also if you don't wear orange consider what you have on while hunting. I wouldn't wear black while pig hunting. Same for a brown Carhart jacket while deer hunting. Orange can help but in low light it looks red which for turkey hunting can be deadly.

All the time. I like the camo pattern blaze to breakup the outline. better to be safe than sorry, imho.

i wear an orange camo hat and have an orange vest strapped to my pack at all times. too many yahoo's out there with guns. was at cow mountain BLM and idiots were blindly lobbing rounds into the brushy canyons where I hunt. i've never been busted by game that "saw" the orange, alway by getting winded or moving too much
