Hi there, I am an avid hunter from AZ and I am interested in doing some boar hunting in Sonoma County. My wife is from Santa Rosa and I will be spending over a week there for X-Mas. Can anyone point me in any direction to hunt boars during Christmas? It can be private/public it doesn't matter. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance,

Ryan

Lake Sonoma is free and right up the road from Santa Rosa. You'll need a bow though, no rifles allowed.

Any National Forest in Northwestern California. Watch out for the "pot farms". Your best bet is Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey County in Central California. This an active Military base accessed by a pre-paid(2 weeks in advance, paid with a money order ONLY) $25 a weekend permit pass. The website is www.liggett.army.mil and all the instructions and permit forms are downloadable. That is some 6???? hrs. drive from Sonoma County, I think. 'Nuff said.

Huntr,

A couple of the guys on this list have reported about hunts with a couple of guided and semi-guided operations up in that area. If they don't post up replies to you, do a quick search (the search tool here is really handy).

You can try Ken Whittaker, his propety borders Lake Sonoma. He runs semi guided hunts for $400. He had his first hunt of the year a couple of weeks ago, my buddy says the hogs are out in full force tearing up the land. He's just north of Santa Rosa out of Healdsburg, give him a call if your intereseted. Ph#538-474-4959
