I shoot a BowTech Tribute & am extremely rough on the bow and string. I've owned it for one year and was wondering if i should replace the string for next season, there's one small thread that frayed -put on a heavy coat of wax and always monitor it.

Any opinions on if i should replace it and if so, what would you replace it with?

What's the rule of thumb on strings? Do i need to replace the cables?

Thanks in advance

I think the smart way is if you are asking yourself that question replace it and the string, also if that is the stock string a good custom string will make it even more of a shooter.

If you hunt much once a year is about right, I have made one string last two years and right at the two year mark the servings were shot so I should have replaced it at one year.

Also yes you generally replace both at the same time.

I use Winners CHoice but might try another company next time.

I recently had the same question, with about the same amount of time on my string. Once I looked closer, I saw some cable wear. If you shoot a lot, it's probably time for a new set of string and cable. At least I would definitely change it if you have some big hunts coming up. Give it a good once over (both at rest and at full draw) and if anything is looking worn, replace it now before you have problems in the field.
