I hope this is not in the wrong section but I am looking for advice on a bowhunting backpack. At the moment I do primarily hunt with bow so I am looking for a backpack that not only can carry out meat but also one that will hold my bow while stalking/hunting.

Everybody always talks about the Badlands 2200 for a day pack that can carry out meat if you need too. There are so many out there today I guess it comes down to personal preference. I use a Camelbak Raider, thinking about upgrading to the Striker, its a little bigger.

I use the Badlands Super day.....my dad and bro have the larger models and we like them all, neither of us use the rifle/bow holder though.

BADLAND 2800. i was skeptical at first. bag was awkward. i just got back from a 10-day hunt. bag performed flawlessly. i got used to putting stuff back into the same place. the bag can carry my bow. and if need be, i can carry my double bull ground blind with ease. it is a definate multi-tasker.

I guess a pack that carries a bow/gun would be good but it is not a consideration for me when choosing a pack, I have taken some spills before that would of thrashed my bow if it were on my back. Comfort is always #1. Eberlestock makes a selection of packs that are made for carrying guns/bows but I dont care for their style. Don't buy an inferior pack just cause it has a fancy bow holder!

I have the 2200 as well, tried to carry my rifle once, didn't like it. It was too much weight on one side of the pack, just didn't feel right. Other then that, I love the pack, very comfortable.

If you do not have to haul a bunch of gear . . . the Game Gear Spot and Stalk bag is nice. A big compartment with added pockets and a quiver mount. Leftys need to order from the companies website. Cabelas and maybe Bass Pro has RH only.

I think I am the only one on this forum that suggests this pack, but I have been using it for 3 years and have packed out some big deer with no problems. I don't know how more comfortable the other packs are, but I do know that mine is not un-comfortable.

Anybody using the Badlands Monster or fanny pack with shoulder straps?
Maybe better lower center of gravity and more ventilation on your back. Would it be too big around your hips and rubbing everything when your trying to stalk through manzanita.

Ok maybe this may be another dumb question but for everyone who said that they don't carry their bow (or in some instances gun) in their pack, where do you carry it while tracking/ stalking. I mean i've had to crawl on my belly once or twice to through some thick brush and there was no way I could have done that with a bow in my hand.

I always keep my bow/rifle in my hands. If it is in your pack how are you going to get a shoot off?

If I have to crawl through the thick stuff, I keep the weapon in front of me and move it ahead of me before I move. If you are crawling around on the ground, you don't want your weapon in your pack as it would most likely get caught on brush.

Buy a Bullpac

I have a bullpac. I bought it for a caribou hunt I went on 5 years ago. It is light, tough as nails, all one piece welded aluminum, and you can attach any pack to it. I put my bowcamtreecam on one side and my tripod in the other.

Eberleystock if you are going to do a multiple day hunt. J104 or the new J34 are perfect for hunting the back country. Don't use the the scabbard in the pack until it is time to tranform the pack from 2200 cubic inches to 4000 cubic inches when it is time to hall the animal out. Bow attaches to it very easily as well. I suggest carrying your bow in a sling personally because like was stated earlier you don't want to be falling down with a $1500 bow on your back. A rifle can with stand a fall a lot easier and is easier to fix.

I use the badlands superday and it has been great for a few seasons now comfort, holds lots but the bow holding straps are more difficult with my hoyt vetrix than my previous bow if you can try some first do it. but I agree my bow is in my hands 95% of the time ready to shoot.
