Has anyone used the Winchester E-tips lead free for hogs? Like to know how they do.

I've taken 4 hogs with the 150 grn's (up to 150 lbs), and a cow elk. Drops 'em in their tracks. Mushrooms perfectly, see below. I like them alot. For my rifle and my money, better than Barnes. Very accurate.



Winchester now has something called power core 95/5 that is lead free, its just as accurate as the E-tip, but I haven't used it on game yet. Its HALF the price of most lead free. I'll try it on my next hog, if it performs as well down range, I'll switch. Tired of paying close to $50 for a box of ammo.

+1 on what LtDann said, I use the 150grn in my 308 and it puts a hurt on hogs.

I notice that the Winchester Power core 95/5 in .270 130 gr. was loaded about 300 fps slower than the standard .270 SuperX in 130 gr. That might make a difference in reaching out for those long shots. The 30-06 load is not much difference so it might be ok on that caliber.

That's because of the bullet's construction; solid gilding metal. You reach peak pressure sooner with the harder projectile so you have to back off the velocity. That's why I load and shoot the Barnes. I can run it up at the rim of insanity for flat shooting. (Not that you need it on hogs, but every foot/pound of energy is good)
