Branson Bow Bash. Tails n' Scales 05

Branson MO

April 30th - May 7th, 2005

(This is NOT a Pro event. This is a light-hearted gathering to meet and make new friends in the world of archery)

Last year we featured a new Bowtech Patriot to be awarded as a grand prize for the largest turkey taken during the Branson Bow Bash. Problem is, no one took a bird! Plenty of opportunity, with birds so close you could hear them drumming. But, turkey hunting is a sport unlike any other in that you are battling a keen opponent and everything has to be just right. Too much fidgeting, leaving too early, getting there too late and you stack the odds even deeper against yourself. Such was the case in 2004.

But, we learned we had a hidden gem right here under our nose the whole time and never had a clue. Two of our participants took a chance that Table Rock Lake might hold some excellent bowfishing and brought their gear with them. Lucky for us, they did and turned a fun event into an all out excellent time. Quite literally, bowfishing became the focal point of fun and turkey hunting became secondary.

Next thing you know, we have ourselves a new lease on life and a grand promotion to boot. The Branson Bow Bash, 2005 - Tails and Scales.

Guests to our Bow Bash will see firsthand the use of decoys, calls, patterns for shotguns and suitable blinds for wild turkey. Missouri restricts turkey hunting to the morning hours so plan on being finished by 1 p.m. In the afternoon, we will head out to Table Rock Lake where anyone can try their hand at bowfishing for carp. The grand prize will be awarded to the person who takes the largest turkey and carp by weight during the Bow Bash. If no one is able to harvest both a gobbler and a carp, the bow will be awarded to the person who harvests the largest turkey then the largest carp. All guests of either Hunter's Friend or DreamCatcher are automatically entered into the Grand Bird and have the best chance at winning the prizes by hunting early.

So try to make plans and attend the Branson Bow Bash. Who knows? You could wind up with a New Bowtech Patriot!

You all missed out on a great time!  The turkey hunting had pretty much died out by last week doen in that part of the state but the bowfishing was still good.  The water temp was still a little cool and the fish had not spawned yet, fat and full of eggs.  The night bowfishing was best this year, once the found the fish in the shallow points we started letting arrows fly.  I was the winner of the biggest fish award with a 18.6 lb sow of a carp.  I shot one fish the last night that may have doubled that my winning fish but I never gained any line on the retreive as it pulled my 17 foot boat with little problem before the arrow pulled out.  I won a AMS retreiver kit (thanks to Jesse for making that prize available) as the top prize but the great time and fond memories of the folks down at the Bow Bash is the best part.
