Ok, I know some people say it's important to align your broadheads to the arrow fletching. So this may be a stupid question, on carbon arrows how do I loosen the insert glue to be able to rotate the broadhead? I know when I use to shoot aluminum I would heat the end up then rotate it, but with Carbons I don't know.

Or, is it even necessary to do it? Jerry down at Jerry's archery tells me it's not, cause you can't line up a four blade BH with only 3 fletchings.

Thanks.

From Petersens Bowhunting, I guess this answered both my questions.

Note that I didn't mention anything here about aligning the broadhead's blade with the fletch. This is another campfire story that's been debunked by scientific testing. Those individuals who insist this makes a difference have likely experienced a poorly aligned insert. Rotating the insert to put the broadhead's blades in line with the fletch probably improved the broadhead's overall alignment.

Thanks.

I did that at one point. I always want everything perfect with my setup. After all, archery is a game of inches.

I bought one of those cheap spin testers and it works great. From my experience, as long as the arrow/broadhead spin perfectly, it doesn't matter if the blades and the fletchings are lined up or not.

If I can't get a specific arrow and broadhead to spin, I'll try the arrow with another broadhead and the broadhead with another arrow. At the end of the day, if I have an arrow and a broadhead that I can't get to spin properly, I use them to practice only.

You don't need to align your broad head blades with your fletching; its a myth. If your insert isn't way out of alignment, but your broad head won't spin true with the arrow try wrapping dental floss around the broad head shaft and then put it back in the insert. The floss will usually take up some deviations and make the broad head spin true.
