BUMP-SULLIVAN SPECIAL GOOSE HUNT CANCELLED FOR 2002-03 SEASON

Contact: Jeff Obrecht, WGFD

8/9/09

TORRINGTON – Hunters are alerted the Bump-Sullivan Special Goose Hunt near Yoder has been cancelled for the 2002-03 season due to lack of water in the reservoir.

“The reservoir is nearly dry and chances are slim sufficient water will run into the reservoir by fall to improve hunting conditions,” said Steve Tessmann, Game and Fish Department waterfowl supervisor.

To participate in the popular controlled hunt, a hunter needed to draw a free permit and purchase the $10 Goose Management Stamp. Hunters who have already purchased the 2002 stamp, but didn’t participate in the hunt in January or February, are eligible for a refund. Refund applications are available by calling the G&F at (800) 842-1934 or (307) 777-4600. Refund applications must be returned to the G&F’s Cheyenne Office by 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

Tessmann said the Bump-Sullivan managed goose hunt area will remain open to hunting this season, but the special permit and stamp are not required. Permit drawings will not be held for the 2002-03 season.
