Bushnell Legends

I have seen many positive reviews of the Bushnell Legend
series of binos, but only for the roof prisms.

Anyone have experience with the porros? Although bulky, they
have most of the same features as the roofs (waterproof, fogproof, raingaurd)
at half the cost.

For someone on a tight budget, these seem like a good buy (on paper)

Any first-hand users?

Possibly the reason that everyone has the roof model (more expensive) is that they are internally more rugged than the Porro's. From what I've read it is the hinges inside that make a world of difference.

I got my 8 x 42's at Midsouth Shooters supply for $235.00 (Natchez also has a good price) last year and the are great. Some other makes/models may be slightly brighter, BUT these have "Rainguard" and it is even better than Bushnell claims. They are also phase coated and fully multi coated, very comfortable to hold and even nice to use when I wear glasses.

Spend the extra $100.00 and you will have a compact, rugged bino to last a lifetime.

In the Marine Corps we use spotting scopes and binoculars with porro prisms. I have never had to fix anything that wasn't abussed hard. So I don't think the roof prisms are any more durable. The porro prisms are actually more clear.
