Wait till you try and buy ammo at the shops. The background crap for that is a nightmare. You have to have at least one firearm registered with the state. If you haven't bought one since 2014, they have no record of it.
I bought a rifle in 2009 and am currently trying to register it, they've had the paperwork for 3 weeks now and haven't even cashed the money order yet. Wonder how long that'll take.
I just purchased an economically priced 12 gauge auto for that reason. I have been shopping around for an inexpensive gun that I would have some use for. So if the intent was to limit the amount of things I have access to well, I just added to my gun cabinet.
