I know theres a million guides out there. Just wondering if anybodys heard or has hunted with ''California Hog Wild Adventures''? aka Steve Skerce? Hes the guide he hunts near King City area. I just know him from another hunting forum (nwtf) and am planning a hunt for the fall havent decided who to book with. His success rate was really good and the price was too. I've seen pics their wild pigs. (i just say that cuz of all the recent talk on another thread)

I have some private land where I can hunt pigs but there really isnt that many there. You could say I'm more of a ''trophy boar'' hunter. I CANT stand gutting those things! So I figure if I'm gonna get one make it a big one (200 plus) or not at all. So I can get one and have meat for awhile.

So thats one of my hang ups. I want a big one if it was 150-175 with my bow it would be ok. I would also LIKE to use a bow but dont have to. My price range is low. $400 is pushing the envelope and I know thats pretty much the min rate. I dont wanna be shooting pen raised or tied up pigs. but if I'm paying money i wanna have a good/great chance at one.

I hear a lot of talk about choppers and terjon ranch. Those are the other 2 I'm thinking about...

So through some thoughts at me.

Norcali...

I haven't hunted with CA Hog Wild, so can't speak for the operation. As you've noticed, there are a bunch of good guides out there, with access to some pretty awesome properties.

If you want to do it with a bow, I believe you can't go wrong with Chopper's place. Sure, you can get skunked, but that's hunting. It's excellent habitat, and there are definitely hogs there. I basically made two hunts per day on my weekend trip, and I saw pigs on every hunt. I can't say the same for everyone else on that trip, but I do think everyone saw hogs.

Tejon Ranch rocks too, and their guides are top notch. It may not be an economy trip, but your odds are pretty good. And, of course, there are the Tejon Pig O Ramas... great hunts at a great price.

Good luck, whatever you choose.

Steve Skerce was booted out of here for spamming the forum. When he didn't like the rules we have here he then threatened to kick my butt or any of the staff here if we showed up at the Bakersfield show. He also made threats to have me kicked off the NWTF forum which I don't know how that would happen by just having his word.

I'm not sure if he has anger management problems, drinking problems or what but his emails sure paint him as a goofball who threatens people he's never even met over the Internet.

I wouldn't waste my money with him, too many hard working outfits out there without the problems.

Chopper's website is www.birdsandboars.com He's got a great place. I hunted there before he became archery only, and we went 5 for 5, with three big boars in the bunch, too.

Hoglover,

There are a few threads here about the most recent hunt at Chopper's place. You can put Chopper in the search function and it'll return a bunch of stuff. Also, here's a write-up I did on our hunt last month. Hunting with Chopper

You can find more info there, and at Chopper's own website.
