CA Owens Valley elk

Since us bowhunters pretty much took it straight in the eye this year, I don't know what to do. I've got max points. It looks like realistically all the early archery bull hunts will have a maximum of 1 tag quota. There is the proposed either sex hunt like last year but the tag quota for 07 says 0-3 tags. Given all the prior rumblings, I think we all know what that means. So the other archery bull hunts with only one tag alloted will most likely be the only option for an archery bull. With only a one tag quota this means it will go to the random drawing, right? Which makes my 5 years of points totally worthless.

So now what do I do? Fort Hunter Ligget? Or screw the bull, put my points to work, go have a good experience and hunt a cow?

Go easy on the crack pipe my friend. You are in a very good place to one day draw a coveted Tule elk archery bull tag. Please don't cash in on a cow. There are several good opportunities, open the brochure and look them over. Ed F

In a few months you'll have enough sweat equity in that new house of yours to take out a 2nd and buy a LO tag. The Mrs. will understand.

They finalized the tag quotas and their will be 5 tags going to the owens valley either sex archery hunt. And if you have gotten the new Eastmans Bowhunting Journal, they have the new world record tule elk with a bow in it and it looks like it down in that area.
