DFG_Bear,

Just out of curiousity. Looking at the Annual Take on the chart that was provided in the report. I saw the 2001-2007 Harvest quite a bit bigger than the 2008-2011. Do you think this is due to an increase in pig tags (fees)? I would think not as many people are hunting pigs because of the price hike within the recent years.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the actual take was triple what those reported numbers represent.

As BigSurArcher alluded to, I pretty much think it's non-response bias. If you look, the overall reported take has decreased over the years since the inception of the pig tag (1993). I think folks just realize that there's no repercussions in the regulations for not reporting. Now with ALDS, we're most likely going to an on-line harvest report here soon, and you might even see it become mandatory. That should get us better in-line with what the actual take is.

We do cellphone harvest reporting in MO for deer and turkey. It's pretty fast, just enter your hunter ID, tag number, county and if buck doe etc. The only drawback is we don't get to hang around the check stations to ogle all the big bucks and gobblers.

Assuming equal reporting across years, I'd agree.
