Camo Your AR with DIY Options From AR Guns & Hunting
Tuesday, July 13, 2010
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Commonly called "Black" rifles, ARs don't have to keep their out-of-the-box paintjob. Many hunters choose to apply a camo finish to their semi-auto hunting rifles. In the summer issue of AR Guns & Hunting, Tom Austin tells you how to perform some of these do-it-yourself (DIY) options.
"Camouflage is a hunter's greatest ally," says Austin. "We'll spend hard-earned greenbacks to outfit ourselves in the latest and greatest camo clothing, but leave our hunting AR to stand out like a sore thumb."
Few folks know better than Austin that camo is a must-have addition to any hunting AR. He makes his living as a predator-hunting guide in the open country of the West. His livelihood depends on being concealed as the owner and operator of Predator Strike Force Guided Predator Hunts.
Austin offers some advice to someone looking for a camo option for his or her rifle. "Make a decision based on your style of hunting," explains Austin. "Factor in durability, longevity, function, style, along with your given budget, and turn your AR into a game-harvesting machine that they'll never see coming."
In "Camo: The New Black," Austin will show you (video included) how to paint, wrap, sponge, and dip your rifle for the perfect camo finish. Be sure to check out the summer issue of AR Guns & Hunting to find out if a $15 or $200 camo job is right for your hunting rig.
