YeeeeeeeHaa!!!.........my ambush plan finally came through! It worked not only once but twice. On 12/27 we watched a group of 10 pigs from a distance worked their way up into the same patch of brush I mentioned last year. Only three route out of the brush we think the pigs will come out. Each of us got setup and started shooting our slingshots in the brush. Minutes later I heard crashing in the brush towards me. Suddenly two pigs sprinted past my shooting lane. Another two stopped in my shooting lane about 30 yards away. I sent a 150 gr. Rem Corelocked in the spine of a younger 100 pound boar. Sorry I couldn't get a pic of it in the field. When I took out the camera, I found out my daughter had used up the new roll of film I installed in the camera. I did got a pic of the pig when we unloaded it in my backyard. As you can see the water in the pot is boiling and ready for us to scald the pig.

I also was at Camp Roberts this past weekend. Saw lots of signs but they were about a week or two old. Came across a fresh track in Area 3 by the river. Tracked it down all day and it went in some thick brush. Casted a couple or rocks in the thick brush and saw the pig came out of the thick brush on the next ridge over. It stopped about 80 yards right before it disappear over the ridge. Either I take a shot or never see it again. So I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Turned out I hit a brush limb and missed the pig. Never saw it again. I think that pig might have gone 250 pounds. I also found the pigs' Motel 6 where they snored and sang "Good Night Sleep Tight". But they have not used that bedding area for a while. All the beds were old. I hope they come back. I had an ambush planned next time I go back there. I kinda have a good feeling if any pig are in the area I might get to post a picture here.
I also saw 6 cow elk on a steep hillside in area 3.

Reddog,
I was shooting a Remington 7400 Carbine in 30-06. It has an 18.5" barrel compact for brush busting guys like me. It's semi-auto for fast follow up shots if needed. I've kill many pigs with it and it's my primary rifle for pig hunting. To elaborate my newly discovered honeyhole, all I will say is Area 3. I will elaborate more about my ambush plan when I get pic to post in this forum. [/b]
