welcome and good luck.
Do a little homework, look at the links at the top and do a back search on this forum and you will find more than enough info to get started. CR is a big place and it sees loads of hunters, there are archery/muzzleloader/shotgun only areas vs the open rifle areas, it is steep brushy country except by the river and pigs can be found almost any place on the base, except when you want to take one...

One other tip, follow all rules to the letter. It is a military base and you have no rights if you break the rules. That includes speeding...

Thanks for the reply guys. We made it there by 0630 and headed to the Avery Reservoir near the live impact area. There was the most beautiful herd of Elk we'd ever seen but no hogs... saw that same elk herd three more times.
We drove around the entire base all day with a few walks in the four corners of area 2 and the airfield on the eastern boundary of the base. Lots of quail for next weekend but no hogs. Saw a large hog running next to my jeep in the field in area 1 just south of the white house on the river with the flag pole (low water bridge area) on the border of the shotgun/muzzle area. Chased him with a winchester 30-30 across the road and down towards the river bed that borders the river. He was not happy and I wasn't sure if I had ventured into the shotgun area only so called off the chase. Great prospects for next week!
The fish and game folks told us that one large one was taken from area 6 with a shotgun and a small one from area 2 today.
Thanks again!
Joe
