Just to let all of JHP know that if you are planning to hunt the April hog and turkey hunt, make sure to call ahead. I will talk to the PMO to make sure, that if we go to war, that there will still be a hunt.

Alot of pigs on the river now,from twin bridges to 101
so make sure and bring a shotgun.

I've never hunted Roberts. Is it like FHL? Do you have to mail in the app or can you just show up? What will I need at the gate if that's how it is. I've been going crazy trying to take a hog and it looks like Camp Roberts is the place to have a chance. Thanks in advance

Is this a shotgun only hunt or is it any weapons. If it's a shotgun only, when will they be doing the rifle hunts.

I think I can answer these questions.
There are both shotgun only and rifle areas. I hunted the rifle areas last time and wanted to try the shotgun areas this time.
Last time I went I got to the gate at 5:45 for a 6:00 opening time and was second in line.
Unless they changed fron the last time, there was no pre-registration, however, I recommend that you complete the firearms form before you arrive.
There seems to be some strict rules there, so you should read thier website and this site's information before you go.
Beautiful place, easy terrain, kid friendly with port-a-pottys here and there. The guys that take care of that place should be commended.

Thanks blast, Iwas going to put that up, but I got tied up working on a M1 tank. You can hunt rifle and shotgun,and blackpowder at camp roberts, But most of the hogs come from the shotgun area by the river next to 101.

Jesse, thanks. I printed the map and it is a bit fuzzy. Boar Tracks I would imagine that they give out maps at the base.
