A congressional candidate is defending his speech to a group celebrating the anniversary of Adolf Hitler's birth, saying he appeared simply because he was asked.

Tony Zirkle, who is seeking the Republican nomination in Indiana's 2nd District, stood in front of a painting of Hitler, next to people wearing swastika armbands and with a swastika flag in the background for the speech to the American National Socialist Workers Party in Chicago on Sunday.

I hear he called Jimmy Carter to find out how he could talk with Hamas. (By the way, notice he is a canidate, not an elected offical. Though last time he did get 30% the vote.)

Virtually anybody can RUN for any thing..don't have to agree with the basic tenants of the party. Same for registering to vote in a primary,
"operation chaos" has proven that one does not have to agree with the cockeyed ideas of a candidate in order to vote for him/her.

Sheesh!..Remember, Al Franken (stein) ran for senate..

For a better insight of party tendancies we must refer to those who have been ELECTED to their upper eschelons. I would opine that
Old Jimmie is a better picture of the Dems than this never-elected jr politician is of the Reps..

Not many on either side are angels, however !

Kind of wierd them having a Republican speak to them, seems a Democrat would have more in common with them ideal wise.
American National Socialist Workers Party, sounds right up the Dems alley.

Another insightful positive post, proving that "anyone" is capable of bad judgement...

Hey if Tony Zirkle wants to talk to Nazis and celebrate Hitler's birthday, then so be it. Last time I looked it was a free country and he has the right to be a racist scumbag POS. Who am I to argue? I would not vote for him and apparently 70% of the other will not either. You cannot suppress the free speech of every ideology that you do not like Chuam no matter how hard you Liberals try, otherwise, Liberalism would be illegal in my world.

I don't think Obama would go to a Hitler birthday party, cause his buddy Rev. Wright might not approve.

here you go Chuam, I rewrote part of the story for you to make it politically correct. The substance hasn't change, just the names.

Mayor Villaraigosa, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor, stood in front of a painting of Che Guevara, next to people wearing red star and sickle armbands and with a red star and sickle flag in the background for the speech to the Movemiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan Party in East Whittier on Sunday.

or

Reverand Al Sharpton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, stood in front of a painting of Malcolm X, next to people wearing black armbands and with Map of Mecca in the background for the speech to the Nation of Islam in Chicago on Sunday.

Common sense;

If he attends Rev Wright's sermons regularly, he will have no need to go to a Hitler rally !

I like how most of you guys are defending this guy. If it was a democrat in front of a Stalin picture you guys would be screaming your heads off.

Typical............

I have not defended this idiot from his mis-behavior, and I notice you chaum only chime in to attack the people who have responded to this article... You posted it in order to stir us up, that is your lone goal...

The historic examples of liberals and dems aligning themselves publicly with traitors, rascists, hookers, idiots and criminals is always laughable to me, because you just can't fix stupid, and they always get their come up ence in the long run...

I don't recall anyone defending him. But I must say he has a right to do what he did. Just as President Carter had a right to visit Hamas. Or a democrat has a right to praise Stalin.

However, just because you have a right to do something doesn't make it right. I doubt he will get too many votes this round after his stupid behavior, but I do defend his right to be an idiot(certainly wouldn't vote for him).

The difference between this guy praising Hitler and Democrats praising leftists is that this guy is being ostricized by mainstream Republicans because of his behavior. Democrats, on the other hand, see nothing wrong with their candidates preaching Marxism, socializing with radicals, wearing Che shirts, ect, which are all the left's equivilents of Nazism. This article only highlights this difference.
