Can't find stats on AZ elk zones

I am interested in geting an AZ tag although I know it could be a few years. I couldn't find stats on the various zones on the AZ Game and Fish website. Maybe I am not looking the right way. From what I read 5b is a good zone. I imagine at least a week of scouting pre season is required and being in good shape which easier said then done for some of us older guys.
