In mass we can hunt yote's til midnight, but are not allowed to use artificial lights (although they are legal for raccoons and opposum)  I don't even really feel safe firing my gun under a full moon with snow on the ground.  Can't really justify a nightvision scope to chase dogs.....   Anyone else allowed to hunt in the dark, but not allowed to see?

And I thought California had all the weird lawmakers ! Looks to me like they should let you hunt all night under those conditions.

Play fair.

We hunt them out here in CA at night be we normally use a light.

About the closest thing that I can think of to what you're describing is a friend of mine who likes to go out to the desert in the knee high sage brush and call under a full moon.  The sand is very light colored (like snow) and he doesn't use a light.  Just a shotgun and nerves of steel.  Even when you can see well, that's only about 30 yards or so and they're normally coming on the full run.

I've done this with him a couple of times and it's a bit nerve wracking to say the least... but it is effective.
