I was checking the counts at the San Diego City lakes and I came accross these counts.
Bluebill 3 12   15
Bufflehead 5     5
Canvasback 2     2
Gadwall 2 4   6

I sent off an email to verify this and it was true.  The city lakes office didn't say if the 2 hunters were fined or not.  Isn't this why we study what ducks look like?  I know it's not the first time someone took the wrong bird, but is it the first time a goverment office published illegal take on their own web page?
Study your birds!

Oooooops. I see it was on Barrett Lake. I wonder if they slipped through. I'm sure someone at the check in would have caught it but maybe not. Jim Matthes sent me the same report and I posted it too.

Good work detective foulshot.

I hunted Barrett on saturday, and they had big sign at the dock to remind everyone.  Not to much to speak of in the way of ducks.  Plenty of ruddies, though.  The water is so lo, the lake looks pathetic.  If you are a bass fisherman, now is the time to look at the lake before it goes back up and mark all the trees and rock piles.
