Rice fields are great places to catch crawfish when they are draining the fields.

On our annual fishing trip, that just got cancelled because of the pandemic, we normally catch between 5 & 6 hundred crawdads in a week. It is everything 15 guys can do to consume them over the week. Every evening we have a boil and a few coolies. All you can eat, as seen in the above foto!! And a few to take home!

If you have too many, break off the tails while they are still alive and freeze them in a milk jug full of water. They will last a good while in the freezer.

Because we are not going this September we figure those crawdads will be so big we will able to ride them around camp next year!

Probably not. After they reach a certain size, they morph into lobsters (LOL). Where are you located.

I am here too-keep your saddle. I am a Louisiana Native, and in the Spring when the creeks and sloughs are high and running, the crawfish will "migrate" between the small bodies of water once the levels start falling. They are so thick, when crossing the swamp roads they look like an army of ants. Once, six of us filled up a pickup truck bed with migrating crawfish, and they were still coming. That was a crawfish boil to remember!

That must have been a good party, The only problem would be trying to scrape together enough cash for the beer to wash all those crawdads down!
