I have heard alot of good things about Cedar Canyon and it is fairly in exspensive. I also like the fact it is semi-guided. From looking at their website and talking with the owners, it seem's like they have alot of pigs, and good sized one's at that. How is the hunt their? Terrain? Do you need a compact 4wd? Is the area good for archery? Are the hog's really as plentifull as everyone says? I have never hunted private property and always hunt fort hunter liggett and Camp Roberts, but Cedar is a hell alot closer and for a guranteed shot at a +150 lb for $600, I am sold. Thanks for the help

I have read a lot of posts about Cedar Canyon Ranch and other hunting ranches/guides and always, there is no guaranteed shot at an animal. Access is guaranteed to property that has hogs but the shot opportunity is not guaranteed. Reputable guides work very, very hard to locate hogs and position the client/hunter for a shot opportunity but there is no guarantee that the hunter will actually be able to take a shot. What I remember from reading the posts on Cedar Canyon Ranch is that the shot opportunity is best when the hogs first arrive from the boar breeding farm in Canada. As the animals are hunted and the herd is thinned then the shot opportunity declines in proportion. It would serve to ask the date when the hog shipment from Canada is arriving and plan your hunt schedule accordingly. The hogs are Eurasian bred in a Canadian boar breeding farm and according to the posts in this hog forum the boars are wily and wary of hunter presence. Hope this helps.
