Central Texas Hogs

Went to a Ranch in Central Texas for a few days of hog hunting. The price was right the place was right. These were the first hogs that I have taken with my shotgun. The first hog came out about 45 minutes before sundown twenty yards away and with one shot with Winchester Platinum tips dropped it in its tracks. The second hog was beeded down next to the river and I was able to ge a running shot at about 30 yards and dropped after one shot. Except for the air fare this trip was extremely affordable and well worth it.

BDP Ranch, Crockett Texas. $100 a day. Two mininum per day. They don't have lodging onsite. Lok'n Dam Marina has lodging from $55 a night in their bunk houses and $100 a week on their RV sites. This is about four miles from the ranch.

Heck 3 guys could get together tow a camper there and back. Could be worth it.

Congrats on the hogs. Is that the exit wound on the bottom picture?

There was five of us that went. Three friends drove from Mississippi dragging a trailer and we camped at the RV site for six days. The campsite was next to the Trinity river and fishing available also with a paid campsite spot. Actually quite affordable depending on how you get there. Just like all hunts we learned alot in addition to just having fun.
The shot on the bottom is actually the entrance wound, I hit the pig on the run and angled away from me. The exit is about the size of a fifty cent piece. After I shot I immediatedly saw the entrails explode out and the pig toppled over and fell down another ditch.

We found some local contacts as to where the hogs are. All you need to do is go to Wal Mart and ask anyone about the hogs and they'll tell you all about the extreme hog problem and give you information where to go and who to talk to.

Good looking porkers you got there. Crockett is about 2 hrs north of me and i will say they deff. have a hog problem around there.

Huntin with BDP Ranch...Is there a website or contact information...And u said that there is a two hog minimum...did u mean to say 2 hog max per day?? All info is appreciated.
