I have a pair of Nikon 10X50 Tundras, they are clear and a nice set of waterproof binos. They have played hell carrying them around on all day trips to the field (heavy after 5-6 miles). I wanted a pair of smaller 8X42s and just didnt have the cash to part with right now. I was in Walmart awhile back and saw some Alpen 8X40s on clearance for less than 25.00. Normally I wouldnt waste my money but Alpen has received some decent write ups lately, so what the heck.
I had them out in the field for the last couple of days and in spite of the fact that everything I had with me was absolutely drenched these cheap Alpens are still dry and clear. I cant believe it. I had them in the rain for at least 8 hours yesterday and walked for miles. If you have the cash good glass is worth it, but if you are in need of a spare set or just dont have alot of cash you may want to check these out.
Just wanted to pass this along, good hunting
