Update for you guys. No pigs down, at least none confirmed. Rich shot one yesterday morning but was unable to recover it. The pigs are everywhere, but just nocturnal. I got on some this morning down in a canyon that parallels a main dirt road. They were below me, I just could not see them due to the way the canyon dropped off. I made it in to about 50-60 yards above them and a truck drove by and blew them out of there.

On the other hand, the deer and turkey are everywhere. I put a stalk on a doe this morning for grins. Spotted her at 60 yards and was able to get to 15 yards and she never blew out of there. Had a great time and great company. Now I just need to start planning for the next trip.

Well, made it out to choppers for the weekend, met some good people, and had a great time huntin, unfortunetly my hunting skills(or lack their of) got the best of me! There sure was a lot of sign, they seemed to be bedded down by 7:00 am every morning! I think I busted a hog or two bedded down every morning, just couldn't get a shot off,oh well thats huntin! Chopper invited everyone to stay another day with 3 takers. I woke up at 5:30,put on my plain janes(no camo) and took a walk. I was making my way up a fenceline that was choked with poison oak and bumped at least 30 pigs bedded down(wow I was shartin myself), the first one that walked out, a 175 pound boar, turned quartering away, looked at me, and I let one fly, yyess I was stoked, right behind the shoulder, clean pass through, blood on the ground! I decided to let it be for a half hour, Jason and Erica wanted to track it with me(thank you),we followed good blood for about 300 yards(through 10 feet of poison oak) and then it started to go through a creek! I walked the creek for about a mile down the main road twice, spent the rest of the day looking with no luck! I feel terrible, tried my hardest, but couldn't recover it! I almost didn't have it in me to write about it,my heads hangin real low! That place is choked with hogs, just got lucky and got into them, maybe next time. Thanks to everyone for a great time, and once again, thanks chopper, can't wait to redeem myself, Mike!

Mike glad to hear you at least got a shot off. I told the old lady that I was invited to stay for another day and she asked why I didn't. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Where did you get on the pigs at?

, ate some great food and took in some amazing scenery. Can't wait to head up there again, even if it's only to get another chance at those flippin' squirrels
<
but then again, it would be nice to see a pig too... LOL

Mike,
I'm totally bummed that you weren't able to recover that pesky pig! Thanks again for letting me join you and Cal in tracking him. It was a learning experience!

'Til next time (the sooner, the better)!

Kelly106,

That's the broadhead I have been using. I've always liked 4-blades and I get good flights out of mine. But I too lost a hog there earlier this month. But I truly believe that was shot angle more than broadhead performance.
