I would like to find some chukar in the high desert .Has anyone found any coveys. Where are they?

Yes, by Ballarat(Death Valley). We got a few, about 1 a person.

From Lone Pine north, start checking out all of the canyons with water within 3mi. of them on the East side of the valley.  Find springs, seeps, guzzlers and streams and look for tracks.  They will stay fairly close to water (within 1/2 mi.) unless they have been pressured and then they could be anywhere.  Some of the birds we got yesterday were 3 to 4 mi. from any water source(that we know of)  This is a good year to be chasing them.....hronk

I've hunted chukar in the Ord Mtns near Dagget/Barstow.

Was there about 3 weeks ago, the numbers are higher than in years past.
