Any time there is a rtidiculous tax level on anything, smuggling becomes a problem, automatically.
For instance; a pack of cigarettes is lightweight and small There is a great deal of tax on a pack of cigarettes.
According to what I dug up www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/cigarett.html the tax on top of a pack in NJ is $2.58,
while in SC it is $.07 !
If a criminal can't buy a carton of cigarettes for $25.10 less in SC and sell them to NJ residents and not make
loads of money, he has another mental problem..besides being a criminal !
Imagine, just 50 cartons in the trunk of his car..$1255 difference between SC and NJ. Excess taxes promotes criminal
activity...
