Ron & big Ron and I hit 13W at Liggett, and where coming down a ridge when Ron spotted a sow about 150 lb's walking away from us at the bottom. I got out to put a stock and followed where she went in and I couldn't hear her or anything moving through the small Oak's and bushes. So I figured she didn't go far. I go to the last place i saw here go in, then I drifted to the right, and saw her standing broadside at 36 yd's/ 31 with arc. But I couldn't get a shot, there was just to many barnches and twig's in the way. So I tried to shift both left & right to get a better shot, but it was only worse. After a couple minute's, that seemed for ever she walked off, with me on her tail, for a short while. But I never saw her again, but it still was a rush.

The stalk is what bow hunting is all about, at least in my opinion. You'll get em the next time.

I'm out here at it right now. I got on one at about 630, and took my first ever shot on a hog. Flipping arrow went right under it. Might have to come back tonite.

Thank you.. Must admit, it was my first ever shot at any game animal and first shot with my broadheads. Plus it was foggy and my rangefinder wouldn't give me the right yardage. Going to buy a target now so I can practice with my broadheads a lot.

Mindsay, it's good that you had your heart-throbbing experience. It would have been better if you connected. However, in not wanting to throw water on your fire, I admit that I must.

A major part of ethical hunting is to ensure that our weapons are properly adjusted for what should be a clean kill. This includes distance. Not knowing exactly where our arrow, bullet or shot will go, without first testing it, is asking for what just happened to you or something we don't desire. I know that even with the most meticulous preparation of our weapons we still will miss shots or hit game where we don't want to hit them. Nonetheless, in the spirit of ethical hunting, we must try to ensure that our weapons are ready to meet the challenge of getting game in the field.

I totally agree with you. But the shot was up hill and unless you by sight can tell degree of the hill then you'll never know how your arrow will respond on the shot. And I was made to believe that if I practice with a 100 grain field tip then my 100 grain broadhead would shot the same. Likes like I was misguided. And please don't judge my decision like you're never made a poor decision. Fyi my ethics are still intact.

Hunter Vic, are you the guys in the black Dodge pick-up truck? We bump in to the herd early that morning and we try to get ahead of them but they winded us or what and they back track . the closes we can get is about 100 yards or so....
Keep chasing them hunter Vic and you will be rewarded.....
