The count down begins! 1 week from today we will be starting the 19 hour drive. Yesterday my father, my son & I, spent the afternoon sighting-in all the rifles @ 200 & 300 yd's. Everyone is dialed in & should be able to make the shots.
<
Now, all I have to do is make sure all the customers are happy before Thankgiving.
<
Last year we all filled our tags except for my younger brother, regardless it will be another fun hunt with the whole family.

Well we're back in town. We arrived in CO with 6 cow tags to fill & left yesterday with 6 elk in the back of the trucks.
<
The weather could not have been more prefect for the hunt. 4" of snow dropped on the day before the hunt, and an additional 8" came-in 2 days later.
My son, my father, myself, and a friend filled our tags on the 1st day. My older brother shot his cow on the 2nd morning, and the younger brother knocked his down on the 3rd day.
The best part of all the snow and the below 0 temps, was the fact that these conditions brought the big bulls out into the open fields. I was not quick enough to get my camara out for pics, but we were able to watch several groups of mature bulls feed on the ridge lines. Theres nothing like the sight of 18 set of antlers
walking in a striaght line to get your blood pumping.

Your's truly and Brad. All 3 of us took elk from the same group after a little "spot & stalk".

This is our 'base" camp. Just had to find a way to keep the water pipes from freezing.

Cool hunt! Congrats on the successful family affair. I'd like to take my old man on a hunt like that. Are those tags fairly easy to draw and do you hunt on public land? Or do you have access to a ranch?

I guess it is about time for me to get my boy out for a meat hunt. Gotta love how they let the kids hunt in any late season cow hunt

Congrats on the great hunt. I'm looking forward to taking my son on a cow elk hunt next year as well. Curious if this was a guided hunt since I'm trying to find a good outfit for my son... congrats again

That DID it! The elk jones is now officially stoked. I'm hunting elk next year...somewhere!

Congrats, Yort, and to your family. That's a winter's worth of meat!
