Colorado Native Named Regional Wildlife Biologist with Pheasants Forever
10/18/07
Denver, Colorado - Pheasants Forever (PF) announces the hiring of Robert "Bob" Hix, of Denver, Colorado, as the organization's new regional wildlife biologist in Colorado and Wyoming. Hix joins PF after spending the past two years as a promotion manager with Bass Pro Shops in the Colorado region. He will start his new position on November 1st.
Hix' primary duties with PF will include starting PF chapters in Colorado and Wyoming. He will service chapters in raising and expending funds on wildlife habitat and conservation education. He will also work with local, state, and federal natural resource agencies on behalf of all PF chapters.
"We are very excited to have someone of Bob's caliber join our ranks. His passion, credentials and wealth of experience speaks for itself, and Pheasants Forever chapters and members in Colorado and Wyoming can expect nothing but a top notch resource in Bob," said Howard Vincent, PF's National President and CEO.
"I want to make a difference in conservation on a larger front," Hix said, "I also look forward to being back in the country being where I belong, working, teaching and motivating others about being passionate for our great outdoors and conservation."
"I know I can carry the message further for Pheasants Forever than has been done before in the Colorado region," Hix stated, "With my media, retail and conservation and affinity group contacts in this region, I can get the word out and get more people involved. And getting more people involved in the outdoors includes kids, women and disabled people. I'm truly excited about this challenge."
In his duties with Bass Pro Shops, Hix set up weekly workshops and monthly events. He also worked with conservation and affinity groups as well as newspapers, radio and television media to promote store events and employees in the outdoors.
Hix is a native of Colorado. He attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, and has spent nearly 20 years as an outfitter/guide.
Pheasants Forever is non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant, quail, and other wildlife populations in North America through habitat improvement, land management, public awareness, and education. PF has more than 110,000 members in 650 local chapters across the continent.
At the heart of Pheasants Forever is the unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct result of their contributions. PF empowers county chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100% of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers are able to see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy.
