Hey Guys,
Second day of third season and I got my cow. She ran my father-in-law and I five miles, give or take, up and down the mtn sides, throught the creek 3 times until I cornered her. It wasn't until the end that I found out we had been tracking the blood trail from one broken leg. The other leg broke when I spooked her up and she attempted to cross the creek a third time. Of course the rifle only held three rounds and I had used one earlier on her and missed. I was so excited about going hunting that I grabbed my .300 rnds and grabbed my hubbies .270 so I had to use my dads rifle that I had never used before and still don't know what it was. None the less it was a little too big and I couldn't see to well out of the scope so the other two shots missed the heart also. One was a gut shot and the other hit her right shoulder. So by the time she layed down and stopped fighting she had two broken back legs, one gut shot and one shoulder shot and I was out of ammo. Thankfully another hunter and his DAUGHTER was coming up the road and he was nice enough to put the final shot into her for me since my dad had the rest of the ammo in the truck and up the road looking for me. His daughter was probably 14 and excited to see this cow. I thanked him and congradulated him on taking his daughter out. My dad was excited to see she was only about 30-40 ft from the road when she finally gave up. She was estimated to be about 550-600 lbs. Bigger than my hubbies bull. I told my hubby I was going to mount her head since she was quite the cow and the fighter. My hubby and I skinned her head and I have it outside for the mag pies to clean up but by next fall I will be painting her skull in traditional Black Foot colors as I am part Black Foot. Unfortunately, due to my own stupidity I forgot to load the camera and so all our hunting photos are none. So no buck, bull, doe or cow pics. Maybe next year.

1st day, 4th season, sun up, small legal bull down-quick but meat tastes great- cow would have been ok aslo as area we hunt doesn't have wall hangers in any great numbers.
